Lack of Visibility in Search Results
When it came to speed or comprehensiveness of coverage, the client had few equals: they were widely recognized as the best in the business. Nonetheless, quality and SEO visibility don’t always go hand-in-hand. The result was that, over the years, the client had begun to see a troubling downturn in homepage traffic and year-over-year lead volume. In local results especially, they were being overtaken by competitors, and failing to rank for essential terms. Given the centrality of organic leads to their online sales revenue, they were understandably eager to reverse this trend.
Inability to Leverage High-Conversion Pages
That’s not to say the client wasn’t reaching customers at that time: in fact, many of their pages had demonstrably high conversion rates. What these particular pages represented, to the client, was pure potential: customers were clearly responding to them, which meant that, with the right strategy, they could be leveraged to bring in even more customers. The problem was, they were struggling to figure out how precisely to accomplish this—in the process potentially losing out on significant amounts of revenue.
Low Domain Authority
Here again, the distinction between actual authority and search authority—what’s known in SEO-world as Domain Authority—came into play. Domain Authority refers to a website’s search engine ranking score—it predicts how likely a website is to rank in search results. Our client had no shortage of actual authority, but their Domain Authority was lacking. If they could find a way to enhance it, the revenue effects would be incalculable.
Solution
When SureOak joined up with the client, they were already working with a team dedicated to on-page strategy. Our remit was everything off the page—i.e., the entire rest of the internet.
Link-building is an essential part of any SEO strategy. It is among the primary ways that the search engine takes its cues: if reputable websites are linking to your website, it suggests that your website is a legitimate sources—and enhances your Domain Authority accordingly.
In the case of this client, that meant putting our heads down and developing a link-building strategy precisely tailored to their brand—one with a relentless focus on sites actually relevant to the transportation and moving space.
One crucial component of this strategy was leveraging the links we already knew to be high-value—i.e., those links most likely to interest customers and to influence conversion rates. But we also made an effort to bring attention to newly launched content pages through high-quality backlinks. The hope, here, was to build new high-value pages—creating as many portals to potential conversion as possible throughout the client’s site.
This process yielded troves of valuable insight into existing SEO gaps for the client and into data trends more generally, which we shared with the client. We also routinely audited backlink profiles to ensure that everything was in working order and that our efforts weren’t undone.
Results
Our relationship with this client is ongoing, after four years of work. Inevitably, in that period, there have been peaks and valleys—there always are with SEO. But taking a general overview of the results, it is plain to see that this experiment has been an explosive, undeniable success.
Organic Traffic
On the traffic front, overall traffic went from 21,734 in March 2020 to 89,027 in May 2024—amounting to a 309% increase. Meanwhile, the trend that had worried the client the most—a noticeable decline in homepage traffic—was spectacularly reversed: between 2020 and 2024, homepage traffic surged from 4,510 to 41,645 visits, representing an increase of 823%.
Organic Traffic to Targeted Pages
Meanwhile, in that same time period, the total number of organic keywords increased by 43%—from 19,655 to 28,282. To put this in perspective: having ranked at number 20 for moving companies at the start of the process, the client now ranks at number one. They also now rank at #1 for international movers, national moving companies, and professional moving companies—and in the top 5 for a slew of other coveted keywords.

Converting all of this into monetary terms: when this partnership started, the client’s traffic value was $45,200. Today, that value is a staggering $553,000, representing a nearly unheard-of increase of 1,1123%.
